Where are they now? Idol Season One

ejayEJay Day: 10th place, season one. He helped write the song “Pure Love” for Raven Simone’s second album, Undeniable in 2003. His Facebook page hasn’t been updated since he posted a Halloween picture in 2014 and he has no active website that I could find. He was performing on Norwegian Cruise Lines in 2014.

thJim Verraros: 9th place, season one. A star in the LBGT community, his album Unsaid and Understood won the 2004 Outmusic Award for “Outstanding New Recording , debut male,” and he scored a top 25 Hot Club/Dance hit with “You Turn it On” in 2007. He carried third billing in the 2004 movie “Eating Out” and the lead in its 2006 sequel. According to Wikipedia he has been in production for the movie “Copacabana” since 2013. His Facebook page is dusty but he stays active on Twitter and Instagram. He appears to be working in the fashion industry, focusing on wedding fashion. You can find him on Twitter at @JimVerraros

th (9)A.J. Gil: 8th place, season one. Not much cooking musically, but he seems to be doing fine.

th (1)Ryan Starr: 7th place, season one. Unable to sustain the success of her number one digital song “My Religion,” Starr (real name Tiffany Montgomery) did some hosting, some acting, and took a shot at becoming a reality TV star,  never releasing an album. She isn’t in the public eye at the moment.

th (4)Christina Christian: 6th place, season one. Voted one of the ten most beautiful women in Dallas, Texas in 2012, Christina, now known as Christina Cewe, currently works as an IT consultant and lives with her husband and two children in Florida.

th (5)RJ. Helton: 5th place, season one. Still actively performing and producing new music, Helton was a Twitter monster until a couple of years ago. Since then he mostly limits himself to retweets when someone mentions his name. Helton, who came out as gay in 2006, is active in the fight against HIV/Aids.

th (3)Tamyra Gray: 4th place, season one. She wrote Fantasia Barrino’s number one hit “I Believe,” which has been performed on Idol several times over the years. She had a seven episode story arc on Boston Public, performed in two Broadway musicals, including Rent for nearly a year, modeled and sang for H&M Jeans, and appeared in several movies. She has one child with her husband, songwriter/producer Sam Watters, formerly of the group “Color Me Badd.”

th (2)Nikki McKibbin: 3rd place, season one. Released an independent label album in 2007 after failing to produce any material for her original album deal. Plagued by serious drug and alcohol problems most of her life, she appeared on Celebrity Rehab in 2008 and celebrated three years sober in 2011. She returned to Idol in January of 2014 in support of her son, Tristan Langley, who received a golden ticket to Hollywood for season 13.

th (6)Justin Guarini: 2nd place, season one. His recording career was basically a non-starter, but he has built up an impressive, varied resume as a Broadway actor/singer and television host. He is still as active as ever.

th (7)Kelly Clarkson: Winner, season one. Her ninety number one hits are by far the most by a former Idol contestant, and her  twenty-five million albums sold worldwide rank second behind Carrie Underwood. Kelly is currently expecting her second child with husband Brandon Blackstock, her manager’s son who is also Reba McIntyre’s step-son. The couple have two other children from his previous marriage.th (8)
