I think tonight’s show was more fun than last week’s show, but the excitement of the big stage isn’t quite there yet. There were two performances that could have been moments on a big enough stage, under the right conditions, but in that smaller venue the impact was just that much smaller. The judges got it right last week, I think. If they get it right again this week – no more than one weird pick – the final 14 will be strong for the live shows and, finally, the audience vote.

Demographics might save one of the four I have as locks to get dumped. The show is already heavily female, since they only kept two guys from the first semifinal group. Dalton, Trent, and probably Lee would still leave it nine to five female over male. My guess is that one – but only one – of the final four get a spot (I have no idea which one, I don’t like any of ‘em compared to the girl who would have to get dumped to make room). If only three women advance, though…. That would mean either Jenn, Tristan, or Shelbie is gone and Amelia is toast.
My best guess, if the show decides that they have to have six males and eight females – please don’t tell me it has to be 7-7, they would have to dump a female who could win – would be something like this:
Dalton, Olivia, Shelbie, Tristan, Trent, and Lee are in. Amelia and Jenn are out. The final spot goes to… Manny? CJ got the best judges review, but he really didn’t sound all that good. The other two were pretty mediocre (Kory) and pretty sloppy (Adam). Manny sucked, but J-Lo loves him.
Ok, dammit, my final answer. Screw the need for males, it’s a girl’s year. My predicted final seven are:
