Shy Girl (Nightclub Cinderella)

Cinderella stands patient, with the night in her hands
Will this be the time?
She’ll be picked from the crowd … by her prince charming
Any old prince will do
But no one approaches … a stranger beside her
Tells her it’ll be all right
He’d tell her his secret, but he feels like a shadow
Blinded by her light

Prince charming was so sure he was right
He knew he would love her for the rest of her life

He thought:

Come hold me close, shy girl
There’s no need to be afraid
Don’t let fear hide your promise
Don’t be afraid, shy girl

Cinderella saw the clock on the wall, ticking towards midnight
This has to be her time
She remembers the stranger … what was his name now?
He seemed to be real nice
Has he been taken? Will he be waiting?
Will he try again?
She searches the faces, for the true love she senses
But he’s walking away

Prince Charming sadly walks out the door
His unspoken words haunt her as her tears hit the floor

Come hold me close, shy girl
There’s no need to be afraid
Don’t let fear hide your promise
Don’t be afraid, shy girl

She ran out and caught him in the street light’s glow
He reached out to hold her and he never let go

Come hold me close, shy girl
There’s no need to be afraid
Don’t let fear hide your promise
Don’t be afraid, shy girl

Come hold me close, shy girl
There’s no need to be afraid
I won’t break your promise
Don’t be afraid, shy girl
