Flags Flying at Half-Mast in Bikini Bottom
My daughter was six years old when Spongebob Squarepants made its debut. Children provide a special, joyful benefit to parents; experiencing childhood a second time. I would likely have missed out on Spongebob had it not been for Shannon.
That would have been a shame. The series combined absurdity and innocence with an underlying, sneaky adult sensibility. Well, Shannon grew up and I went back to being even older, but I still remember all the laughs we shared.
RIP, Steven Hillenburg.
By the way, my favourite character was not Gary. I'm not that egotistical. It was Squidward. I used to do a really good impression of him ("Everybody's stupid except for me.") I don't 'officially' believe it.
He walks without purpose to an uncertain fate
